Tormek Launches T-2 Professional Kitchen Knife Sharpener

Developed for the culinary industry, the T-2 sharpening system delivers sharp edges quickly and effortlessly.

TROY, Mich. August 30, 2017 - Tormek  of Sweden, the company setting the standard in innovative sharpening systems since 1973, announces the launch of the T-2 Professional Kitchen Knife Sharpener, developed to meet the culinary industry’s demands.  

The high accuracy of the T-2 means no unnecessary steel is removed which gives the knives a long lifetime. The slow running fine grit diamond wheel is gentle on the steel, so there is no risk that it gets heated and damaged. The user is in full control at all times during the sharpening. A diamond wheel and a patented guidance system offer chefs a solution to achieve sharp edges whenever needed.

Tormek collaborated with the Swedish Culinary Team, led by Chef Fredrik Andersson, with the T-2 in preparation for the Culinary World Cup 2018.  "Having sharp knives is incredibly important for us to be able to perform,” said Andersson. “The Tormek T-2 is an important part of our equipment, as we can sharpen an edge and ultimately create the conditions to succeed in our goals".

The sharpening system accommodates 14–60 mm (9/16"–2 3/8") wide knives with a maximum thickness of 3.5 mm (1/8").  A resilient clamp steers the knife on both sides, which makes it easy to maintain a constant angle against the grinding wheel.  The sharpening job is completed in a few minutes including honing and polishing on the honing wheel.
